For most people, the question of can tonsils grow back is a natural question to ask. Tonsils are located on either side of the mouth and can appear very tiny and sometimes feel as though they are not present at all. This is why many people wonder how this can happen. Usually this is due to a bad tonsillectomy or a lymphangiectasia throat surgery that was done to get rid of the tonsils altogether.
Tonsils can also bleed because of poor oral hygiene. If you do not brush your teeth twice daily and floss daily, then this can be enough to cause swelling and bleeding of the tonsils. Also, if you have bad breath that comes from brushing and/or flossing too much, then this can lead to tonsilloliths, small ball-like stones that form on the tonsils. These can grow large enough that they will obstruct the air passage through your throat.
Tonsils can also grow larger because they can simply break loose during some types of cancer surgery. Sometimes chemotherapy can cause a person’s tonsils to swell excessively because they cannot protect themselves from the medications. Other reasons for this to happen can be surgery for the sinus, and even certain types of cancer surgery. Surgery for the tonsils is rare.
Tonsils can also grow back when they are injured. For example, if someone accidentally hits their tonsils and causes them to bleed, this can be an example of this. Also, certain throat diseases can cause your tonsils to get hit or miss. For example, acute pharyngitis can sometimes make it so that the tissues on the inside of your mouth break down and get inflamed. In addition, certain throat medicines can irritate this tissue and cause it to be inflamed. When this happens you can have some swelling and inflammation in your throat.
The above examples all show that it is possible to have your tonsils grow back even after a tonsillectomy. This can be a good indication that your tonsils are benign and not a problem. If they are not then you might want to have them removed. However, this can be done because of other symptoms as well, such as tonsillitis, chronic tonsillitis, or a sore throat.
In some extreme cases, a child needs to have his tonsils removed. This can be due to things like deviated septum, where the septum is not smooth, and therefore has a bump on one side. It can also be due to chronic tonsillitis in which the tonsils become inflamed. In either of these cases, the child needs to have them removed as soon as possible so that the infection does not spread to any other parts of the body. If the tonsils are removed too early, it could also cause difficulty breathing.
Tonsils can regenerate when they are injured, but this can happen only after the injury has healed. They cannot just regenerate on their own, and this is where some people get confused and think that they can have their tonsils removed because they are growing back and they are not. It is not possible to get the blood flow back to the tonsils to allow them to regenerate; it simply won’t happen. Tonsilloliths will simply remain in the crypts of the tonsils and can cause further infection.
Tonsils can also regenerate after a tonsillectomy when the patient undergoes minor dental work, such as a wisdom tooth removal or bonding of the tonsils with an enamel-like substance. When this is done, the enamel will harden on the teeth and thus make it harder for bacteria to grow and live in them. These can then be removed with a laser or a scalpel, and the patient can then go home and go through another round of treatment and recovery.
